AI Calling That Writes Back to LeadSquared

What "writes back to LeadSquared" means in API terms, the three documented calls involved, an example field mapping, and five questions to ask a vendor before go-live.

Written by The IndiaCalling.ai team · We build AI voice sales agents for Indian real estate developers, working directly with presales teams and portal leads.

A 99acres enquiry lands in LeadSquared at 9:40 on a Tuesday night. By morning the record still shows a status of New, no call notes and no activity, because the first call is waiting for someone to log in. An AI voice agent can make that call in seconds, but the call only helps the presales team if what happened on it ends up on the lead record. This guide covers what that write-back means in LeadSquared's own API terms, which documented calls handle it, and what to ask a vendor before go-live. All LeadSquared details below come from its public API documentation and help pages, read on 28 October 2026.

Which AI voice agents integrate with LeadSquared?

IndiaCalling.ai lists LeadSquared among its supported CRMs on its product and pricing pages. Caller Digital and Edesy each publish a LeadSquared integration page, and a Capterra listing says Zappio integrates with it. These are vendor statements, not tested results, so confirm depth of integration in a demo before you rely on any of them.

The wording differs more than the logo lists suggest. IndiaCalling.ai's product page says call outcomes, qualification data and recordings flow into the CRM you already use. Caller Digital's page describes outcomes and transcripts logged to Lead Activities, with custom fields and tasks. Edesy's page describes a native integration that syncs call outcomes, transcripts and scores. Zappio's Capterra listing is a single line naming Sell.do, LeadSquared and Salesforce. What does "writes back to LeadSquared" actually mean?

It means the voice agent changes data inside LeadSquared after a call, rather than only holding it in its own dashboard. In API terms that is usually three documented operations: updating the lead, posting an activity against it, and logging the call itself. Which ones a vendor uses is a design choice you should ask about.

  • Lead.Capture: per the LeadSquared docs, it "creates or updates a lead" from a JSON body. A voice agent can use it to write qualification answers such as budget band or preferred configuration onto the lead.
  • ProspectActivity Create: posts an activity to a lead using an ActivityEvent code, an ActivityNote, an ActivityDateTime and a Fields list of custom field values. This is the natural home for something like a booked site visit.
  • Telephony LogCall: the LeadSquared generic telephony connector's call log API, which posts the call as an activity on the corresponding lead with fields such as CallDuration, Status and Direction.

Any of the three needs an access key and secret key from the LeadSquared account, so a real integration starts with your LeadSquared admin issuing credentials and agreeing which fields and activity types the vendor may write to.

How does a new LeadSquared lead trigger the call?

The usual pattern is an event on the LeadSquared side that notifies the voice platform the moment a lead appears. LeadSquared documents webhooks as user-defined HTTP callbacks that fire on events such as Lead Creation, and an automation can also carry a Webhook action. The voice platform receives the lead and places the call.

Two documented details matter for speed. Webhook configuration sits under My Account, Settings, API and Webhooks, needs an admin user, and offers an optional execution delay in seconds, so confirm it is set to zero for first-call use cases. Delivery is an HTTP POST, and a failure is marked after three attempts, so the receiving endpoint needs to answer quickly with a 200. The automation Webhook action, per the help article, posts the data retrieved just before the action runs, and has a retry count and a notify-on-failure option.

This is a typical pattern, not a description of how any one vendor connects. Ask your vendor whether it listens to a lead-creation webhook, polls LeadSquared, or sits behind your portal feeds, because each choice changes how fast the first call can go out.

Which call outcome fields map to which LeadSquared objects?

A clean mapping decides whether your team can filter and report on AI calls or has to read them one by one. The table shows one example of how common call outcomes could map to the documented APIs. Your LeadSquared account's schema names will differ, so treat it as a conversation starter for the integration call.

Example: how a call outcome could map to LeadSquared

How are call recordings and transcripts attached?

The documentation does not give one clear answer, so this is the section to press vendors on. The LogCall page's sample request includes a ResourceURL and a Tag, but the parameter table does not describe either, so treat ResourceURL as a documented sample value rather than a defined feature.

Vendors therefore make their own choices. Caller Digital's page, for example, says its activity entry carries a recording URL, a transcript URL and a conversation URL. Whichever route a vendor takes, ask where in the lead's activity timeline a presales manager will find the recording, whether it is a link or a stored file, and who can open it. Confirm the details with your LeadSquared administrator, since field permissions and activity types are configured per account.

What about duplicate leads and phone matching?

Lead.Capture decides whether to update or create using a documented order. The docs say the API tries to find a matching lead based on ProspectId first, then EmailAddress, then Phone. If a ProspectId is passed along with an EmailAddress, ProspectId takes priority.

A SearchBy attribute lets the caller choose phone or email as the match field, but the page says that if ProspectId, EmailAddress, Phone and SearchBy are all passed, SearchBy is ignored. The practical advice is for the voice platform to pass the ProspectId LeadSquared already issued, so a call outcome updates the record that triggered the call and never creates a second one.

Indian portal leads add a wrinkle. The same buyer often enquires on both 99acres and MagicBricks, sometimes with a different email on each and a phone number written as 98xxxxxxxx on one and +91 98xxxxxxxx on the other. The Lead.Capture page does not say what happens when email differs but phone matches, so test that case in a sandbox before go-live. For LogCall, the docs add that numbers shorter than 10 digits are formatted with the default country code, and they do not explain how a lead is found when LeadId is omitted. Pass the LeadId.

What limits and compliance checks apply?

LeadSquared's APIs return a 429 when calls exceed 25 in 5 seconds, so write-backs need queuing. Timestamps must follow the documented formats, with UTC for LogCall times. Consent or DND status needs a stored home on the lead, so each call can be justified later. Check all three before launch.

The same 429 wording appears on the activity and LogCall pages. A campaign that sends a few hundred leads at once can hit it if every call outcome triggers two or three API writes, so ask how the vendor queues and retries writes rather than dropping them.

Timestamps are the other quiet failure. LogCall documents StartTime and EndTime in UTC in the format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS, while the ProspectActivity page shows ActivityDateTime as yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss and does not state a time zone. A vendor that sends Indian local time where UTC is expected will shift every call by five and a half hours in your reports, so spot-check a handful of test calls.

Compliance data needs a home too. Consent status and DND checks should be stored as a lead field or an activity, so an audit can show why a number was called. Our TRAI compliance checklist covers what to make a vendor prove, and the LeadSquared mapping should carry those proofs.

What should you ask a vendor before go-live?

Five questions separate a working integration from a logo on a page: which APIs it calls, what triggers the first call, how it avoids duplicates, where recordings appear, and how it handles rate limits. Ask them in the demo, using your own LeadSquared sandbox if possible.

  • Which of Lead.Capture, ProspectActivity Create and LogCall do you use, and which fields do you write on each?
  • What triggers the first call, and what is the delay between lead creation and dial?
  • Do you pass the existing ProspectId or LeadId, and what happens when the same phone number arrives from two portals?
  • Where do the recording and transcript appear on the lead, and who can open them?
  • How do you queue writes against the 25-in-5-seconds limit, and what happens when a write fails?

On commercials, IndiaCalling.ai charges Rs 6 per connected minute with no monthly fee, supports 10+ Indian languages, and says most developers go live in about two weeks. Frequently asked questions

Does IndiaCalling.ai integrate with LeadSquared?

IndiaCalling.ai lists LeadSquared among the CRMs it works with, alongside Sell.Do, Salesforce and Zoho, and says call outcomes, qualification data and recordings flow into the CRM you already use. The exact fields written depend on your account setup, so confirm them in a live demo before go-live.

Which LeadSquared APIs handle call write-back?

LeadSquared documents three relevant calls. Lead.Capture creates or updates a lead, ProspectActivity Create posts an activity to a lead, and the Telephony LogCall API logs a call as an activity. Which ones a vendor uses is its own design choice, so ask which it calls and which fields it writes.

Can the AI agent call a lead the moment it enters LeadSquared?

A common pattern is a LeadSquared webhook on Lead Creation that notifies the voice platform, which then places the call. Webhooks need an admin to configure and have an optional execution delay in seconds. Ask your vendor how it is triggered and what delay to expect.

Will it create duplicate leads?

It should not if the agent passes the ProspectId or LeadId LeadSquared already issued. Lead.Capture otherwise matches on ProspectId, then email, then phone. The docs do not cover every mismatch, such as one buyer arriving from two portals with different emails, so test that case first.

Does the integration cost extra?

IndiaCalling.ai charges Rs 6 per connected minute with no monthly fee, and the pricing page lists no separate integration charge. API access on the LeadSquared side depends on your LeadSquared plan, so check that with LeadSquared directly.
